The best way to try to learn the mysteries of man is to listen, to converse with other people, preserving, much better than a book, the knowledge accumulated from their experiences (and not only that). The discussion leads to the emergence and develop the wealth of information in new ways, sometimes more effective than previous ones, in some cases overturning their convictions and beliefs. This inner revolution is because too often a knee-jerk reaction to defend against malfondate their ideas and this blind faith in the truth turns provocative, common sense in ostentation, the truth in artifice.
The reason is not the only means, perhaps, to get the truth so that the man always craves and I think that as long as you only confide in this or in their belief it is doomed to fail.
